  2. My Favorite last line is from "A Rat's Tale" by Tor Seidler. Beautiful.

    Do I have to mention the line for it to count as an entry? I'd hate to spoil the ending. A nice payoff, character wise.

  4. I almost never remember the ending line to a novel. I can't think of a single one. I do remember how I feel when I reach the end, though.

  7. Mmmm... my memory isn't all that good with lines, I only recently started highlighting on my e-reader and then write some of them down.
    If there is something at the end of the book that makes me go back is the feelings it leaves me with, like Nighshade by Andre Cremer, her ending was cliffhangerish what is going to happen to the main character, will her struggle be all for nothing? will her sacrifice amount to nothing?
    Or Tahere Mafi's Shatter Me, Warner is such a crazy and evil character I can't help to love, what is going to happen to him? How will Juliet grow? Will I end up hating her when in the first book I loved her so?
    Does any of this rambling make any sense???

    1. Definitely! I'm with you on the way cliffhangerish endings stick with you and keep you guessing.

  8. “And as He spoke, He no longer looked to them like a lion; but the things that began to happen after that were so great and beautiful that I cannot write them. And for us this the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on for ever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.”

  10. Okay, here's the line-

    "Some rings hoop around the heart,
    From a lover, or a friend;
    But all are circles, once begin,
    And none will ever end."

    ~ A Rat's Tale by Tor Seidler

    Still, read the whole book, please. It's a great story, and this line means so much more, and worth reading, in context.
    Congratulations on the upcoming release of
    Story's End, Marissa. I recently sold my first MG novel, and the book I shared the last line from was the inspiration for mine.

    Can't wait to share more on my blog when I'm further along the process.
